footsteps of our beloved 16th president right here
in the GRADD region?

THOMPSON FERRY

Indiana in 1816.
THE
PATE HOUSE
Location: State Hwy. 334, 3 miles
west of Hawesville
This historic home of Justice of the
Peace Samuel Pate is where Lincoln won his first
law case in 1827. Pate encouraged Lincoln to
study law and loaned him books.
UNION COUNTY
COURTHOUSE

This was the site of Lincoln's
only political speech in his native
